September 9th, 2025 Fishing Outlook & Conditions

Imagine That Outfitters Tip of the Week: Our Texas rivers are in great condition compared to the past few years. It’s looking like we are finally climbing out of the drought. Dawn patrol is the way to go on most days. Fish are feeding on shad, frogs, and crawfish patterns all over the Texas Hill Country. Get out early, and fish top water for your best chances at that river monster.

Best Time to Fish: Early mornings/ late evenings

Best Stretch: Any

DEVILS RIVER:

Flow Rate:

• Bakers Crossing (42.3CFS)

• Pafford Crossing ( 93 CFS)

Water Clarity: Excellent

Water Temp: mid 60s- low 70s

5 Day Outlook: The Devils River got some much needed rain this Summer, and with more rain in the forecast, it is shaping up to be a great Fall season. We will begin running trips late September.

SAN MARCOS RIVER:

Flow Rate:

• Martindale (97 CFS)

Water Clarity: Good / slightly stained

Water Temp: mid 60s- low 70s

5 Day Outlook: The San Marcos should continue to fish good throughout the next week and into the Fall season. Flow rate is excellent for float trips, water clarity is slightly stained which is pretty normal, and the top water action is electric.

LLANO RIVER:

Flow Rate:

• Junction (83.6 CFS)

• Mason (149 CFS)

Water Clarity: Good

Water Temp: mid 60s- low 70s

5 Day Outlook: The Llano river is flowing great at the moment from all the Summer rain. Great conditions for a float trip. Water clarity is good to slightly off color in most areas. Fishing should continue to be good throughout the next few weeks and into the Fall season.

UPPER GUADALUPE RIVER:

Flow Rate:

• Kerrville (47.6 CFS)

• Bergheim (126 CFS)

• Spring Branch (144 CFS)

Water Clarity: Stained/ dirty

Water Temp: High 60s- Low 70s

5 Day Outlook: The upper Guadalupe river continues to get rain. Water clarity is dirty making the fishing a bit challenging. Flow rate is excellent for float trips. Water clarity should improve, and fishing should continue to get better as it does!

GUADALUPE RIVER BELOW CANYON LAKE DAM (TAILWATER SECTION):

Flow Rate: Below Canyon Lake Dam (96.4 CFS)

Water Clarity: Good

Water Temp: Mid to high 60s

5 Day Outlook: No planned dam release change over the next few days. It is almost Early Trout (Holdover) season on the Guadalupe. Cooler temperatures in the next few weeks will have the holdover fish getting active. Annual trout stockings will begin late November. Stay tuned for up to date conditions.
