Imagine That Expeditions Tip of the Week:

Water levels are high in and around the Pinedale area. Fishing continues to stay productive throughout the day. The higher flows can be challenging to consistently find fish. Target the slower edges and don’t be afraid to go big fly selection wise. The tailwater below Fontenelle is your best bet for consistency.

Hatches: Stones, caddis, BWO, Midges, Scuds, crayfish

Best Time to Fish: All Day

Best Stretch: Below Fontenelle Dam

Best Access: Below Lake Fontenelle dam & above the forest boundary

GREEN RIVER:

Flow Rate:

  • Warren Bridge (1100CFS)

  • La Barge ( 2900 CFS)

Water Clarity: Dirty/ off color

Water Temp: 55 degrees ( Fontenelle)

5 Day Outlook: Watch the flows as runoff may cause another bump.

NEW FORK RIVER:

Flow Rate:

  • Big Piney (1700 CFS)

Water Clarity: Dirty

Water Temp: low 50s

5 Day Outlook: Dirty. Streamer and worm game if you put in the time

GREEN RIVER BELOW LAKE FONTENELLE (TAILWATER SECTION):

Flow Rate: Below Fontenelle Dam (633 CFS)

Water Clarity: Good

Water Temp: 55 degrees

5 Day Outlook: No planned dam release change over the next few days. Hatches are becoming more and more prolific. Flow rate should stay consistent over the next week.
